Caring Leaves Fall Foliage

The Stampin’ Up!® Caring Leaves stamp set came out in the September-December 2024 mini catalog. It is a stand-alone stamp set…small and sweet, but with endless possibilities.

I shared four short videos on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube of card ideas with this set (you can view images of those cards below), and then one longer tutorial video on YouTube, where I combined the set with the Thoughtful Wishes die set to create a fall foliage focal point. You can view that video here and written instructions are below:

To make the fall foliage Caring Leaves card, gather the following supplies:

  • Caring Leaves stamp set

  • Thoughtful Wishes die set

  • Stylish Shapes die set

  • Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder

  • Cardstock in the following colors (cut sizes/instructions below): Night of Navy, Very Vanilla, Pebbled Path, Mossy Meadow, Copper Clay

  • Ink pads in the following colors: Pebbled Path, Wild Wheat, Mossy Meadow, Copper Clay

  • Wild Wheat Rustic Striped Ribbon

  • Adhesives, cutting tools, die cut/emboss machine

  • Embellishments of your choice

Cardstock cut sizes and instructions:

  • Card Base, Pebbled Path cardstock, cut at 4.25” x 11”, scored and folded at 5.5” along the 11” side (top fold, portrait card)

  • Very Vanilla panel cut at 4” x 5.25”

  • Night of Navy panel cut at 3.75” x 5”, embossed with the Forever Plaid embossing folder

  • Very Vanilla scrap, large enough to die cut the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes die set. This is a 3” diameter circle. Trim 1/2 inch from one side of the circle, using either a paper trimmer, or ruler and cutting blade, or draw a line with a ruler and cut with scissors.

  • Very Vanilla scrap, large enough for sentiment strip. Mine is 1” tall x 2” wide, with the ends trimmed at angles.

  • Very Vanilla scrap for stamping three leaf images

  • Mossy Meadow scrap for die cutting leaves

  • Pebbled Path scrap for die cutting foliage pieces

  • Copper Clay scrap for die cutting foliage piece

Stamping and Assembly Instructions:

  • Adhere the Night of Navy embossed panel directly to the Very Vanilla panel.

  • Using dimensionals, adhere both panels to the front of the Pebbled Path card base.

  • Adhere the trimmed Very Vanilla circle to the Night of Navy panel, aligning the straight edge of the circle to the right side of the Navy panel.

  • From the Caring Leaves Stamp Set, using Pebbled Path ink, stamp the outline image of the leaves so you have three total. I did two of one shape and one of the other shape of leaf.

  • From the Caring Leaves Stamp Set, using Wild Wheat, Mossy Meadow and Copper Clay ink, stamp the inner portion of each leaf with the coordinating stamp. I used each color one time so I had three different colors of leaves.

  • Using a scissor, cut around each leaf, leaving a small Vanilla border around the stamped image.

  • From the Caring Leaves Stamp Set, using Pebbled Path ink, stamp the sentiment “You’re Simply the Best” centered on Very Vanilla cardstock, and trim both ends at angles, if not already done.

  • From the Thoughtful Wishes die set, using Pebbled Path, Mossy Meadow and Copper Clay card stock, die cut a variety of foliage pieces for your arrangement.

  • Using small amounts of liquid glue, begin adhering your leaves and foliage pieces to the Very Vanilla circle. (Tip: place glue just down the center of your big leaves so you can lift the edges and tuck your other pieces behind them). I “stair-stepped” the three large leaves down the circle and then began tucking the cardstock pieces in around the leaves until I was happy with the arrangement. I trimmed some of the die cut pieces down so they fit in the spaces I wanted to fill and didn’t stick out too far.

  • Using dimensionals, adhere the sentiment strip near the bottom left of the circle.

  • If using a dark card base, like Pebbled Path, adhere a lighter colored cardstock panel to the inside of the card for your message. This can be cut to a size of your preference.

Embellish:

  • Cut two lengths of ribbon, approximately 6” each (they can be different lengths). Cut each piece of ribbon lengthwise, so you end up with four six-inch strips of ribbon. Holding all four strips together, tie a knot in the middle. Trim ends to desired length. Adhere with a glue dot to the top right corner of the sentiment strip (between the sentiment and the foliage arrangement).

  • Embellish with jewels, pearls, gems or other adhesive-back dots as desired (I scattered seven metallic adhesive-back dots from top to bottom of card, through the foliage arrangement). (Tip: adhere an odd number of dots for a look that is “pleasing” to the eye).
